A Relationship with God First, I’d like to begin with something that is not so obvious: Jesus Christ is alive and well. He lives within the hearts and minds of all who trust in and follow Him. This statement is not a religious belief. Rather, it is a fact known by all who have answered the call that Christ placed upon their lives. Second, to everyone who seeks after God (through Christ) with all of their heart, He can be found! NOTE: The key words are, “With all of their heart.” In other words, just being curious is not enough. More on this in the next post! Let’s look at what the Scriptures declare: “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 “Without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 Jesus Christ Himself said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.” Psalm 62:1 “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Psalm 62:5 While there are numerous other Scriptures that tell us how God is available to all who seek Him, these six verses tell us most of what we need to know (to get started). Third, Christ knocked on the door of my atheistic heart several times as a young man. I am so glad I took that step of faith to reach out to Him and to invite Him into my life as Savior and Lord. Choosing to follow Him was the best decision I ever made! I wouldn’t change my relationship with Him for anything (i.e. no amount of money, power or fame would persuade me)! In part two of this series, I will talk about HOW a relationship with God can begin! In the Name that is above ALL OTHER NAMES... P.S. I would like to share two additional verses with you: “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord” Philippians 2:9-10 Why am I sharing these verses with you? They are important because they tell a unique story that many do not hear: • The name “Jesus” is exalted above ALL other names. Think about that for a minute. The name “Jesus” has been exalted above every other name you or I can think of or say! • Every knee (in Heaven, on and under the earth) will bow to the name of “Jesus”. This means, all who trust in Him, all who don’t trust in Him, angels and demons WILL BOW to the name of Jesus! • Every tongue will acknowledge that Jesus Christ (i.e. Messiah) is Lord. Until then, I want to encourage you to bow your knee, head and heart to Him and tell Him what’s on your mind. It could be a simple prayer like, “God, I would like to begin a relationship with you but I am unsure how. Please help me!” Then, trust that He will meet you!
